Another key component of helping to maintain your pet’s health and happiness is having them on reliable, consistent heartworm preventative.
Heartworm disease is serious and potentially fatal to our dogs and cats. Heartworms are spread by mosquito bites and can grow up to a foot long, living in the heart and lungs of our beloved pets.
Unless you intend to breed, we recommend having pets spayed or neutered. Pets that have been spayed or neutered tend to live longer and have healthier lives.
Regular wellness exams allow us to catch underlying health problems early, provide consistent preventative care, and support your pet’s overall health and well-being.
It's hard to provide care without knowing the root of what is ailing your pet, which is why diagnostic testing is so important. Diagnostic testing can include laboratory testing (blood, urine, and fecal) and diagnostic imaging like X–rays, CT, MRI, and ultrasound.
From routine cleanings to tooth extractions, the Thrive Pet Healthcare network of Primary Care veterinarians and Dental Specialists is here to keep your pet's smile fresh! Our general practices can take care of everyday dental maintenance with outstanding regular check-ins, cleanings, and basic surgeries.
Meanwhile, our specialty veterinarians are prepared to handle more complex or chronic dental cases like a root abscess, jaw fracture, abnormal tooth formation, or advanced periodontal disease. These doctors are highly trained within the field of veterinary dentistry and have access to specialized equipment, typically unavailable at primary care clinics.
Our veterinarians are skilled in diagnosing common problems that affect our pets like vomiting, itching, lumps, limping, and more.
Fleas can cause itchy skin, skin infections, and spread tapeworms. Ticks can carry disease such as Lyme Disease, Ehrlichiosis, and more.
We will be by your side during this time of need to offer both medical assistance and emotional support.
The occasional taps, scrapes, and scratches that happen when playing with your pet means it's time for a trip to your local veterinarian or boarding facility! Trimming your pet's nails is a healthy part of their life, and can lead to greater comfort in everyday activity.
DVM
Dr. Hartung graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1984 and received her veterinary degree from Oklahoma State University in 1988. She attained specialty board certification in Canine and Feline Practice by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in 1995 and joined Redmond Fall City Animal Hospital in January 1996. She and her husband enjoy time at home with a Portuguese Water Dog, an Australian Shepherd, and two cats. In addition, her daughters bring their critters home from college to visit regularly, so the household can get wild and wooly! In her free time, Terri enjoys hiking, reading (history, literature, and education), writing (essays and short fiction), traveling to Disney Parks as often as possible, and volunteering with dog 4-H. At work, her special interests include internal medicine, behavior, and pediatric/geriatric care.
DVM, Medical Director
Dr. Schwartz received her undergraduate degree in Russian Studies from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania. She worked in Russia for a year on a large dairy farm before attending the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she graduated in 2019. Dr. Schwartz was the president of the veterinary school nutrition club and has been involved with cows, chickens, and small ruminants in addition to cats and dogs. Her interests include dermatology, internal medicine, surgery, and any animal that might live on a farm. Dr. Schwartz and her husband, both originally from the East coast, enjoy their new life in the Pacific Northwest, where they frequently run, hike, rock climb, and go on other adventures.
DVM
Dr. Carlson is the newest doctor to join Redmond Fall City Animal Hospital. She has been practicing veterinary medicine in Washington state since graduating cum laude at Colorado State University in 2000. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, but has a special interest in feline medicine. While in veterinary school, she completed two externships at a feline specialty hospital in Vancouver BC and was awarded the American Association of Feline Practitioners award for excellence in feline medicine and surgery. She spent many years working in emergency and critical care hospitals, so she enjoys challenging internal medicine and emergency cases. She also has interests in soft tissue surgery and dentistry. She holds a special place in her heart for geriatric patients and the challenges that come with aging. In 2004 she completed her acupuncture training at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University and feels that acupuncture has been an invaluable tool for helping improve the quality of life for senior pets. In her free time, Dr. Carlson enjoys exploring the beautiful state of Washington, visiting farm to table restaurants, cooking, and going on adventures with her husband and their Golden Retrievers, Lockett and Wagner. She also enjoys cuddling on the couch with her 3 cats and a good cup of tea. She can usually be found cheering on the Seahawks during the fall and winter months.
